Food Analysis #5 Eggs

My Favorite food  eggs(x) Chicken Eggs(o)

             In the daily reports, I didn’t mention about any amount of food. However, I suddenly realized that I eat too many eggs in a week. Then, I counted that how many egg I eat in a week on last week. The result was shocked me. It was 27 eggs. Eggs are easy to cook and cheap. The actual reason why I choose egg is that it included a lot of protein (I pretty much concern about protein). So, I used to eat 2-3 eggs in a meal without any concerning. However, the number 27 makes me check about all about an egg.

              Before I talk about an egg, I have two questions about ‘egg’. Actually, an egg can be any animal’s egg, and it can be a fish egg. I mean that real word ‘egg’ is ‘chicken egg’. Also, most languages have a different name between egg and chicken egg. So, sometimes the word ‘egg’ makes me fun. In addition, why are American eggs white? I know that there are some brown eggs, but you can’t find white eggs in Korea. If you find white an egg in Korea, it definitely is a duck egg. So, I thought that even chickens make white eggs because Americans are white. I know that the idea is ridiculous, but I still curious about white eggs. 

             In addition, couple of weeks ago, it was Easter. Do you know that why do we eat chicken egg in Easter? The reason is that eggs look like already dead. However, it has a life inside of the egg. So, people of the first generation church thought that rebirth of Jesus could match with eggs. So, they started to celebrate Easter with eggs. Also, before B.C., people used to celebrate starting spring with egg because of the similar reason.

              Eggs are well known one of perfect foods which include 5 essential nutrients. Also, it is well known about cholesterol food. About 5 years ago, there was news about egg and cholesterol in Korea. And, it made a big issue that men have to avoid eating eggs because of cholesterol. So, I hoped to check the amount of cholesterol in eggs and to compare daily digestion with daily eating amount of mine. By the way, I found an interesting study from American Health Science Center. They researched for 3 years about eggs.  Then, they said that only less than 1% of the people who eat eggs every increased danger of heart diseases. And, irregular eating habits increased 30 to 40% of danger of heart diseases. Also, they said the cholesterol in eggs is HDL cholesterol which is good for our health. In addition, ingredient choline which is one of mixed type of B vitamin protects dementia and hardening. Thus, they show that eggs don’t have any negative affects to people. I think that many people still don’t know real effects of eggs like me. So, I hope that you enjoyed the information and eating eggs.

Food Analysis #4 Broccoli

             Don’t you think that afro hair remind you broccoli? 

             There are some foods which are hard to get in Korea, but Americans enjoy very much. Broccoli and avocados are the best example of the foods. Frankly, I had never eaten broccoli and avocados when I lived in Korea. So, I thought that broccoli is same as parsley, and I knew the taste of parsley. Therefore, I didn’t try to eat broccoli for a while. However, one of my friends recommended eating broccoli for health. So, I tried a bite. Then, I felt like to find new world. After that, I ate broccoli every day about more than 6 months, because I tried to control my nutrition with protein and vegetables. Actually, I mostly ate only chicken breast and broccoli. Anyway, after entering Q.C College, I broke many things of my life styles. One of that is eating style. I totally forgot to eat vegetables included broccoli. But, the daily reports remind me that I should eat more vegetables. So, I started to eat broccoli again.

             Briefly, I researched about positive effects of broccoli. First of all, broccoli has a lot of U vitamin. And, Vitamin U makes healthy stomach. So, broccoli can cure ulcer, gastritis. Second, broccoli has a lot of selenium. Selenium is a miraculous ingredient. It protects growing old our cells, and it has anticancer effects. Also, it reduces active oxygen. By the way, I want to talk about active oxygen. People can’t avoid growing old. However, when we digest any food, active oxygen is created by our stomach. Then, active oxygen makes people growing old faster. Many people know that C vitamin is good in many reasons. A recent study from NYU, they show that C vitamin reduces active oxygen, and because of the work, C vitamin gives make positive health effects. Also, fasting is well known that it recover metabolism. Because our body stops to create active oxygen, fasting gives cure effects to our body. Anyway, selenium also increases immune system, and it helps to protects blood pressure and heart attack. And third, broccoli has twice C vitamin of lemon. Also, you can easily research some more good effects of broccoli.

             However, even though broccoli has such the great effects, I rarely found it in people’s daily reports. So, I describe two broccoli cooking. If you like mild taste, you should try to make peanut broccoli. It takes less than 10 min, and you need only 3 thing, mayo, grinded peanut, and broccoli. First, you need to boil broccoli. Then, just mix a bowl of broccoli with 2 spoons of mayo and 1 spoons of grinded peanut. Also, you can use peanut butter instead of grinded peanut. Frankly, I tried to use peanut butter for cooking on last Sat. It was pretty good. On the other hand, if you like spicy taste, you should try to make red pepper broccoli. It also needs about 10 min. You need a bowl of boiled broccoli, 1 spoon of red pepper paste, and two tbsp of some vinegar. Then, just mix it. Why don’t you eat broccoli tonight? I hope that everybody start to eat broccoli.

Food Analyze #3. Ramen

Forget about your ramen.

If you read my daily food reports, you can ask me what instant ramen is. I know that some people have experiences about instant ramen. However, almost of the people ate an American instant ramen. By the way, I don’t understand that the size of American instant ramen. It is too small. It is half size of Korean ramen. Moreover, Korean men usually eat 2 packs of ramen for one meal. Almost American meals are big, but ramen is ridiculous. Frankly, I’m certainly not heart burning with patriotism, but I think that ramen is pretty addictive food. If you have no idea about Korean ramen, you should go to Korean market today, and buy every kinds of Korean ramen. I guarantee that all of Korean instant ramen are delicious.

There is my interesting story about ramen. It happened that I was about 8 years old. My mother said that when she was child, there was not enough rice to eat. So, I said to her, “Why didn’t you eat ramen?” That was so stupid answer, but I was sincerely.

      Anyway, I often eat instant ramen because it is cheap, easy to cook, and so delicious. Cooking rice takes more than 30min, but cooking ramen takes only 5min. So, many Korean people usually eat instant ramen more than one time in a week. Based on a research, the average eating ramen of a Korean is 84 packs in a year, and the total consume amount of ramen is 3.8 billion packs. Frankly, I was also surprised the amount. The meaning of the research is that instant ramen have a position of main meal in Korean people. Also, there is one more interesting thing that you cannot find handmade ramen restaurant in Korea. There are only instant ramen restaurant in Korea. So, if you want to eat handmade ramen that the noodle absorbs only a little water, you have to go Japanese restaurant.

      There is a special ramen which named ‘Jjapagetti’. I think that you haven’t seen it before because it is different with normal ramen. It sounds like copy of ‘spaghetti’, and it is an instant black noodle (You can have a black noodle only in a Korean Chinese restaurant). Even though you are not interested any Korean ramen, I hope that you try ‘Jjapagetti’. However, if you follow the cooking description in ‘Jjapagetti’, you may fail to cook it. You have to remove almost of water after boiled noodle. Then, you can mix the noodle with soup base. Also, adding some red pepper makes better taste.japa

       However, there are so many studies that ramen is so bad for health. But, I don’t want to mention about the parts because I like ramen. Many Korean people try to stop eating ramen, but they can’t. They already know that ramen has many bad ingredients, but they can’t. I hope that you don’t miss one of the best taste in the world.

Food Analyze #2. 3 White Powders : Salt, Sugar, Flour

When I live in Korea, I used to seriously consider what I eat. However, it had changed in the U.S. because it is hard to prepare and keep many types of food by myself. Also, food prices are more expensive than Korea. So, my food choices are frankly limited such as Korean basic meal(rice, kimchi, and some small dishes), Chinese food, pizza, and instant ramen. I mean that I totally lost my nutrition because of my food choices. I couldn’t reduce to eat some ingredients such salt, sugar, flour, oil, msg, etc because I mostly eat outside.  As a result, I gain more than 20 pounds in a year. Many people think that calories decide to make fat. However, it is totally wrong idea. So, I want to talk about what ingredients make you unhealthy, especially making fat. There are 3 white powder that people takes too much without concerning which are salt, sugar, and flour. These make more fat than oil in your body. Frankly, people cannot avoid eating those 3 ingredients because almost of food and drinks make with salt and sugar, especially it is harder to avoid poor people. Nevertheless, people have to control to eat them because it may affects critical health problems such as hepatitis, glycosuria, enteritis, obesity, and etc.
Salt is necessary to control water in our cells, but it is the first reason of obesity. If you think that you eat normal amount of food but have so much fat, you have to check about salt amount of dietary because salt keep lie on our body. Then, salt makes your cells to absorb more water. It means that you want to drink more water when you eat something. So, your ability of digestion is weaken because of water. Moreover, taking 1g of salt break 6g of proteins of your muscles.(More specific reasons here)
Sugar, there is nothing good for our body. First of all, it is the best food for decay bacteria. Second, digesting sugar needs a lot of other nutrient, especially minerals. Moreover, most sugar products are artificial processed, and stomach directly absorb it to blood. So, it makes high blood-sugar level.
In addition, most people don’t digest well flour food. So, you could be lost a lot of nutrition to digest flour. In fact, flour is not bad ingredient for some people. Also, flour has pretty good nutrition itself, because it has only carbohydrates energy. However, when people cook or process flour, it has to need so many bad ingredients such as sugar, salt, baking powder, oil, preservative and etc. So, I hope that you avoid eating bread as possible.
Thus, the 3 white powders have many bad affect to our body. However, it is hard to avoid taking it. So, if you really concern your health, you should check the 3 white powders, and you have to reduce to eat it. Also, I hope and practice to control my nutrition, and I want to get back my energetic life.

Analysis #1. Kimchi

             Asian style of meals usually have main dish which is mostly rice and sub dishes. In Korea, kimchi is important as same as main dish. I mean that you cannot forget kimchi in a Korea meal. I used to eat a little of kimchi when I lived in Korea. However, now, it’s hard to forget my traditional food, especially kimchi. It makes me fresh when I eat oily food. Frankly, I eat fried food (eggs, bacon, and etc frozen food) so many times because it is easy to cook. So, the food always reminds me eating kimchi. Kimchi is a little expensive food in the U.S. But, I hope to try everyone instead of pickle.

             Then, let’s see what is kimchi. The meaning of kimchi is ‘to preserve’ in Korean. Most people think that kimchi is red because of red pepper. However, the red pepper imported in Korea 18th century. Before the time, we had only white kimchi. There are more than 100 styles of kimchi, but the processes are the same way. The process is pretty simple. The first, you should preserve cabbage with salt. After 8 to 10 hours, the cabbage changes to soft. Then, you should wash the cabbage with fresh water. Then, to mix the cabbage with grinded red pepper, garlic, onion, ginger, carrot and a little salted fish juice. Then, you can eat it. However, you can’t get sour taste from it.         After 21th century, the world interested about kimchi. It offers you antitumor effects, and it eliminates cholesterol because it has a lot of vitamins and minerals. <Here are specific reasons of it.> So, many people have changed the image of kimchi which was smelly. So, Korean people developed many kimchi products.(Especially, I recommend kimchi pizza) Also, they developed new taste for the American. In last semester, I had a party in a class. So, I brought the Americanized kimchi. I was surprised that most people didn’t know about kimchi. After tasted kimchi, however, the people interested and enjoyed about kimchi.

             I said that kimchi is not a main dish. It means that kimchi have some combinations of food. This is how to eat kimchi to get better taste. First of all, I hope you to try kimchi with ramen. In Korea, many ramen advertise with kimchi. Moreover, there is a famous advertisement song which nick-named ‘Ramen and Kimchi’, and most Korean people know the song. If you know the song and ask about the song to Korean people, they could be friendlier to you. The second recommendation is kimchi with oyster. It is a stereotype of healthy food in Korean community. You could find it in a Korean sushi restaurant. The last recommendation is fried chicken with white kimchi. You can eat it in every Korean chicken restaurant.
